"Check high mounted brake light" warning won't go away

About two weekends ago, the "Check high mounted brake light" warning popped up on my dash. I figured it was just a bad bulb, so I swapped it out. The new one lights up just fine when I hit the brakes, but the warning has returned a couple days now. To make it even more annoying, I get a loud chime every time I press the brakes for more than 5 seconds.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Any tips on how to clear the warning? Should I try disconnecting the battery for a bit or is there a way to reset it without a scanner? I got a 2021 Elantra if that helps.

On a 2021 Elantra, that warning can pop up even if the bulb itself is good... it might be a wiring, socket, or connection issue, sometimes the system just needs a reset. Check the contacts for corrosion or looseness, and if everything looks clean, a battery disconnect for a few minutes can sometimes clear the warning. If it keeps coming back, you may need a scan tool to reset it or to confirm if theres a fault in the brake light circuit

I had this exact issue recently, which made me visit this forum again.
I had to replace the whole light assembly due to a faulty wiring and connector.
If you're already out of warranty, you can order that part online for around $50 - $70, and it's a pretty easy swap!
You can try disconnecting your battery but the warning will likely come back because of the underlying issue.
